Eggsquisite Pieces of Art

Fort Wayne - Eggs truly aren't just for breakfast anymore! Eggstravaganza is all about 29 eggsquisite pieces of art that have hatched in windows in downtown Fort Wayne. Now that Eggstravaganza has kicked off following a massive egg hunt in Parkview Field, in which a large bunny lost more than 3,000 plastic eggs in an unfortunate turn of events just days before the TinCaps homeopener, here have since been rumors of an overachieving chicken doing the same thing throughout downtown.

Eggstravaganza; a community-wide, fundraising art project for Easter Seals Arc, whose mission is to create solutions that change lives of children and adults with disabilities or other special needs and their families, is in full egg-ffect. Local businesses have sponsored the thirty pound eggs and local artists have turned them into beautiful works of art, and now they have relocated to their new downtown homes. Easter Seals Arc is thrilled about this project and of the endless possibilities it has presented to the organization and to the community of Fort Wayne. "We wanted a way to increase awareness for Easter Seals Arc and people with disabilities in a fun way. We've done plenty research and this struck as being a win-win; like the cows in Chicago, or the pigs in West Lafayette, or the mighty mastodons of IPFW," said Steve Hinkle, president of Easter Seals Arc. "Everyone involved has, or will, benefit somehow. Businesses get the promotional impact of having an egg reflect them, the artists get to use their creativity in a very public way, Easter Seals Arc will harvest awareness for adults and children with disabilities, and the city of Fort Wayne benefits by being beautifully decorated by dozens of eggs!"

All 29 eggs are currently on display in windows throughout the downtown area. Through the end of August, anyone can go on their own egg hunt and view these spectacular pieces. In September, the eggs will be auctioned off. Once you have seen these eggs, please visit www.eastersealsarcnein.org to vote for "The Most Eggsquisite", "The One That Cracks You Up" and "Best of Shell". Winners will be revealed at the auction in September.

Eggs are located at the following merchants:
